Obesity is a condition that arises, when the body weight exceeds the requisite normal weight. Accumulation of fat deposits in the body tissues results in obesity.

Stress plays a vital role in causing obesity. Psychological disturbances propel a person to seek comfort in food -such a person may consume excess food. Children suffering from such disturbances, tend to become obese.

Improper dietary habits can predispose an individual to obesity. When a person starts consuming foods rich in sugar, starch, fats, and highly processed foods, there is extra weight gain.

Technological advancements in modern life has resulted in less physical activity. At homes, people use electrical gadgets that save on hard physical labour, thereby resulting in sedentary lifestyle.

Obesity Reasons-
• Physical inactivity (lack of proper exercise)
• Eating Habits –
o Eating in between meals
o Preference to sweets, refined food, fats, preserved food
o Composition & periodicity of meals
• Psychological Factors
o Emotional disturbances
o Depression and anxiety
o Frustration and loneliness
• Endocrine glands problems
• Familial tendency
• Males are at high risk during age 29 to 35 and females are at risk during the age 45 to 49
• The risk increases with age.

Yoga is an age-old system of healing that seeks to restore imbalances in the body, mind and soul. Yoga practices help in energizing the body, which has been in an inactive mode due to obesity. Importantly, yoga helps in cleansing the body of toxins and reduces fatigue. Asanas or yoga postures help to burn up excess fat, improve metabolism, tone up muscles and help the practitioner enjoy a healthy lifestyle.

Asanas

The key factors that govern yoga are exercise and relaxation. While performing an Asana, it is important to be aware of the body movements

The yogic poses are to be performed according to one’s comfort level, without coercion. When executed in a calm, relaxed manner, the body responds to the directions of the mind, which brings about a transformation. With each passing day, the body’s flexibility increases and the movements become fluid and harmonious.

Yo get good result, ontrol obesity and reduction of fat in natural way one can follow the follwoing routine:

1. Early morning walking and followed by Surya namskara of 5-10 round.

Drink glass full of water. Patients of constipation whould take warm water.

Pass morning bowel

Meditate for 10 minuites

In a cup of warm water mix a lemon and 2 spoonfull of honey and drink it every moerning

Practice the following asanas

1.Pavanmuktasana

2.Mandukasana

3.Pashchimottanasana

4.Dhanurasana

5.Ardha Matsyendrasana

Pranayam:

In the Evening in empty stomach practice Rhythmical Breathing

Regular breathing brings about balance in the body, by calming the mind. It is said that he who has calm nerves, has a calm mind too. Pranayama helps in controlling the breath. Ideally, pranayama should be practiced without being in a hurry with adequate focus on the breath.

Steps:

Inhale through both nostrils to a count of 4.

The breath should be retained for a count of 8.

Exhale the breath through both the nostrils to a count of 4.

Retain the breath outside or remain without breath for a count of 8.

Pranayama is easy to practice, and helps an obese person to develop the will power to control excessive eating.

1.Kapalbhati :-15 to 20 min

2.anulom- vilom :-10 to 15 min

Do’s

While bathing scrub the body for 10-15 minuties with small and slightly rough towel. At night before sleep close the fist and dry message patting with plam will effect the cells that cause fat.

Consume less quantity of Carbohydrate and proteins. Add more vegetables, juices ands fat free milk and curd.
